Applying
The application process is online and super easy. You fill out a load of questions, you have to get two references and put their contact details on the application, you fill out information about two skills you have and upload pictures of any certificates you have received for those skills. Once your application is complete the next step is to organise an interview. At the interview they ask you questions like why do you want to be apart of camp America, they ask you about your skills. You also have to pay an application fee and pay for your police checks. Once you have passed your interview, your application starts circling camps and you are ready to be placed!

Camp America Recruitment Fair
You may get placed soon after your application goes to camps, however there is an opportunity to go to a recruitment fair and meet camps and get placed on the spot! That is what I did and was successful. I am also on a course called IYLA which is for girl scout camps, so I got into the fair early meaning I had more of a chance to get placed! I talked to three camps and got placed on my third! The fair is a bit like the interview but you are talking specifically to the camps, its useful to research the camps that are gunna be there before you go, so you know a bit about them and know which ones you like the look of. Also so you know which dates you can do as all camps have different starting and finishing dates! My camp starts on the 8th of June and ends on the 16th August.
I am so excited to be apart of this amazing opportunity and work as a unit counsellor, looking after children and try new things like caving and Archery. Summer cannot come quick enough!
